Utilities available at the Atmore and Brewton
industrial park sites include:
- Local telephone services provide digital
services with high speed transmission capabilities.
- Fiber optics service with digital switching is
available in Atmore.
Enterprise Zones
The Atmore Industrial Park and Brewton Industrial
Park are designated
Enterprise Zones. The City of Atmore provides additional incentives
which include a 10-year exemption from Business License Fee, a 2-cent sales
tax exemption on building materials purchased within the city limits, and
water and gas at cost through the Atmore Utility Board for one year. The
city also will provide gas, water and sewerage utility services to the
building of any qualifying industry at no cost to the user. The city also
will provide services to any area of the Atmore Industrial Park not
currently served within 90 days to serve a new or expanding industry.

The City of Brewton provides incentives which
include a scaled exemption from Business License Fee and gas, water, and
sewer at cost for one year through the Brewton Utility Board. The exemption
from city license fees is scaled as follows:
- 100% for the first year in the city.
- 50% for the second year in the city.
- 25% for the third year in the city.

Education
The state of Alabama AID Training program also
provides an excellent source of training programs for the more technical
applications. Training programs are available locally through Jefferson
Davis Community College's Atmore and Brewton campuses. Courses can be
designed for your company's specific applications. All graduates of Escambia
County Schools receive some computer training.
Transportation
Air service
Commercial air service is available within an hour in Pensacola, Fla. and
Mobile. Atmore and Brewton also have local general aviation airports with
runways of approximately 5,000 ft.
Highway
Interstate 65, a major north-south artery, is located 6 miles north of
Atmore and 14 miles north of Brewton. Interstate 10, running east-west, is
located 40 miles south of each community.
Freight Several
major trucking companies service Escambia County.
Rail
CSX
provides east-west main line rail service in Atmore and Brewton. Alabama and
Gulf Coast Railway provides north-south main line rail in Atmore. CSX provides rail
service at the Atmore Industrial Park.
Quality of Life
Escambia County provides a quality of life unique
for a county its size. The Atmore Community Hospital and D.W. McMillan
Memorial Hospital in Brewton provide 24 hour emergency care and helicopter
service to major medical facilities in the region. A $2.7 million YMCA in
Brewton provides a variety of programs and facility amenities for the
county. Also, the YMCA in Atmore offers a wide variety of programs. Golf,
hunting, fishing, and tennis are a few of the recreational activities
enjoyed by the residents and visitors in the county. Jefferson Davis Community College, with campuses in Atmore and
Brewton, provides continuing educational opportunities in the county with
several major colleges located within an hour's drive. The communities'
location makes them convenient to major cultural activities in Montgomery,
Mobile, Pensacola, and other communities along the Florida Panhandle.
Financing
The State of Alabama offers several attractive
financing options that can be considered. The Escambia County Industrial
Development Authority will help design a financing package that best meets
the project requirements.
